Progress pics of the 'tater towers:
I've been piling up more compost as the potato leaves grow, and the bins are now about half-filled with the mix. In an unplanned 'tater tower - one of our working compost bins - there's a sweet potato going gangbusters, and in a third compost pile, squash and pumpkin. Since those compost piles are in the "settle & digest" stage, I'm going to let the new goodies grow and see how they do. Pics forthcoming!

Wes and I just yesterday built four tater towers out of old fencing materials, using your design. Except we didn't do the cardboard at the bottom, not having any geese to dig on it.
ReplyDeleteYay! Your blog inspired me to grow potato-buckets, and mine finally sprouted about a week or two ago. Now, of course, I have determined that they are too crowded and need more buckets. Too bad it is raining here with no end in sight!
ReplyDeleteThe towers are a great idea. When Spring ever shows up I think I may give it a try. Thanks.
