Frau has been laying an egg a day, like clockwork. Cinnamon and Nutmeg trade off days, once in awhile both laying on the same day (and usually in the same laying box as well). The eggs are getting bigger, and are still d*mn good eating.

Spouse is home, so I'll run errands this morning and then get a straight eight hours of sleep this afternoon. A rare treat on a weekday!


  1. Help me out: when did these girls hatch? My Betty came home a fresh chick in mid-May and she has not given 1 single egg. Too soon? I have this disturbing fear that our three hens are not hens...

  2. @natalie: we got our Ameraucanas at the beginning of May, and no eggs from them, either. It can take up to six months before the hens will start laying. Frau was a March baby, and didn't start laying until September.
