CSA Veggie Adventure Check-In

Some of the dental issues have been solved, but other issues have been discovered. At this point, I'm only able to partake of foodstuffs that can sucked up through a straw. Looks like I'll be making lots of pureed soups and smoothies from this week's bounty:

Beets
Chard
Parsnips?
Parsley
Leeks
Green Beans
Radicchio
Squash
and the first organic Peaches of the season.

I give thanks that the dentist gave me happy pills for the pain. Oof.

  1. Hope you don't have too much discomfort. Smoothies are good. What is CSA?

  2. Hi Anonymous! "CSA" is an acronym for Community Sponsored Agriculture. In a CSA arrangement, a customer pre-purchases several weekly containers of produce from a local farmer. Check out http://www.localharvest.org/csa/ for more info - it's good stuff!

  3. Dental/jaw pain sux so bad. I'm sorry you are going to be doing vegetable juices for the next few weeks. I would make a nice bisque with those parsnips to slurp. And it is prolly way hot there right now so maybe some ice cold gazapacho, blended for the straw. Hang in there.

  4. @Chance - thanks for the suggestions! Currently thawing out some home-made chicken stock and trying to decide which veggie to steam & puree.
